missionary quote

we got another letter from elder meek.  the boy has said so funny, spiritual things since he has been gone. so i have decided to share what he says with you. whether they be funny or spiritual. im sharing. this week he had some pretty funny ones. i miss this kids humor. one of the many things that i am missing. my mom and i couldnt stop laughing when i was reading his letter out loud last night.

"That crazy about what happened in Colorado.  I did
hear about it, my ward mission leader told me about it. Sounds tragic.
If I was there I would have just knocked him out! Im a missionary I
cant die without fulfilling my purpose. haha Im probably going to die
out here because I said that."

he is always the tough guy. he has always stood up for me. i miss him.

the call

this last monday at 12:30am. i guess early tuesday morning. i got a special phone call. i got to hear a voice of someone that i havent been able to talk to in six weeks. i cant believe its been six weeks since i have heard this voice. its made me happy to be able to talk to him yet so sad to know that i wont hear this voice till mothers day. if you havent figured out who i am talking about, i am talking about my little brother. elder meek. last week my mother sent him a gophone so that this last monday while traveling to the philippines he would be able to talk to us. he sounded great, the 15-20 minutes talking to him felt so short. he asked me if i wanted to hear something in tagalog. of course i said yes and i told him to say what he would say what he was to some random person on the street. it pretty much went like this "blah blah blah.. meek.. blah blah blah christo blah blah blah" yea. i only understood two words. i told him that we are getting used to him being gone but that its hard to be down stairs (his bachelor pad). but other than that we are hangin in there, meaning "we" my parents. we told each other that we love and miss each other and ended it with see you on mothers day. that means we will probably be skyping. since the call, my mother got email from his mission president saying that he has arrived, ate a huge philippino dinner, tucked in bed and would be heading off to his zone area in the morning. we have yet to receive a letter from him, but we all are so very excited to hear what his first days in a different country were like. tell then. you have to wait, like i have to wait.

Elder Wilson Meek

February 22, 2012 has come and gone.... 19 years of my life has gone in a flash. now hopefully the next 2 years go just as fast. i cant believe the boy who nagged me, bugged me, punched me, and loved annoying me is gone. the boy who gave me the best bear hugs, who was always there when i needed someone, who always stood up for me when one was in the wrong. is gone. the boy who healed our family when we were recovering from a loss in our family is gone. wednesday was one of the hardest, longest, most tearful days of my life. im quite happy its over. i wanted him to come home, but now i know he needs to be out there the men, woman and children of Manila, Philippines need him more than me. and i cannot be selfish. its only two years. well two year subtract 3 days. that makes me feel a little better. though today i feel much better because as i was getting ready. before i hoped in the shower i texted my mom. any letter? no response. so as i was blow drying my hair i checked my gmail a low and behold an email from wilson!!! hes struggling. the language is hard, hes a little homesick. but heck its not easy, this is going to be hard for him. he needs to keep his chin up. the kid has never been on his own and i think he will grow so much from this experience personal and spiritual. im so excited to see him grow. im so excited to hear his adventures. i just hope. oh how i hope that he does not lose his cuddliness. for example. i would be home talking with my mom in the kitchen and he would come up stairs and come up behind me and give me a hug or just lean on me. or whenever i needed a hug. he would give the biggest, longest hugs. i love those. and oh how i will miss them. heres to t-minus 707 days.

goodbye dinner

this last tuesday as a family, minus meghann, add telise (wilsons girlfriend) we went out to eat. our last big hoorah before the boy turned into a full time missionary. we went out to eat a Market Street Grill. we stuffed our faces with steak, crabs legs, and clam chowder soup. the best meal i have eaten since our trip to Hawaii. of course the fun dinner had to come to an end and we went back home, got our sunday attire on and set wilson apart. President Warner gave wilson. Elder Meek a wonderful blessing, of course the tears began. then afterwards the friends came over and stayed till about 2 in the morning.
wednesday morning came so fast. i got up and ready and headed over to my parents. spent the morning making sure wilson had everything and just relaxed till it was time to say goodbye to Telise. that was the beginning of the goodbyes. we all packed up in the car and headed down to provo. i was hoping for a rather long drive but i seemed faster then ever before. we stopped at J-dawg, per wilsons request. tried to enjoy what seemed a 10 minute lunch before we hoped in the car and before you know it we were at the provo temple grounds saying are pre-goodbyes. the cryfest began then and there. we took picture, which will soon be up. then hoped back in the car and entered through the MTC gates. saw wilson best friends divver, another brother who entered the MTC five weeks ago, hes going to germany. we went all the way down the road to number 14. wilson saw so many people that he knew it felt a little comforting that he had people he could talk to when he felt lonely. we got out of the car where his host was waiting. at number 13 the host for that missionary was another of wilson friends and asked wilsons host if he could host him, while that was happening divver was running down the sidewalk ready to greet wilson. we took more pictures and said our last goodbyes and gave our last hugs..for the next two years.

and dont judge me. i have a count down in my phone. i cant bring myself to look at it that often because im closer to 1,000 days than 1.... heres to long 2 years.

january update

so i have been gone for awhile. don't you all worry i will be posting this weeks monday munchies. the last few weeks feels like a blur. first off i would like to say. happy first day of february. Im not a big fan of january. i will never have my wedding day or any kids in january. i think, especially in utah though not this year, it is a depressing month. any who. this last month has been somewhat nice. i have started my training for my marathon coming up in may and my asthma hasn't been too bad. i was put on some lovely acne medicine. i thought i was blessed in high school with no acne. well that wasn't the case. i guess you can say i am "late bloomer" i wish i could say that with my height. but i am okay with being 5'3 oh wait. 5'3" and 1/3 yep you have to count that little bit. i was told that when i went to see my pulmonologist. where i racked up a nice medical bill. oh the joys of being independent and paying your own bills. stressful at times. but nice. now if you know me well i love lululemon and i found out that we are getting our very own store in trolley square. i love it. my wallet not so much. i guess i will be picking up extra shifts at the hospital so i can look cute while running 26 miles this running season. now last but not least. i have mentioned in previous posts that my little brother is leaving on a mission. today would have been the day where i would be balling my eyes with him entering into the MTC. but today. I'm not. about two weeks ago my mother called me  up to tell me that the group of brothers and sister entering the MTC to go to the Philippines on the 1st of february will be now entering on february 22nd. so i will enjoying my time with wilson for an additional 3 weeks. one of the best news ever considering i starting crying about him while making cookies the other day. pathetic i know. but i love him and will miss him dearly. well there is you update of the month of january. not much. I'm sure i forgot many things. but this month i will be better. i promise.

heres to february. a warmer month. longer days. and maybe less smog in the air.

oh an did i forget. I'm thinking of doing a half iron man. craziness.

The Lord has declared that missionary work is the responsibility of all who follow Him (see Matthew 28:19–20D&C 88:81). Members of the Lord's Church can, by the goodness of their lives and the strength of their testimonies, share the gospel message and help prepare family members, friends, and other acquaintances who are not Latter-day Saints to be taught by the full-time missionaries.

When we experience the blessings of gospel living, we naturally want to share those blessings with others. The Lord spoke of the joy that comes into our lives when we share His gospel:

"If it so be that you should labor all your days in crying repentance unto this people, and bring, save it be one soul unto me, how great shall be your joy with him in the kingdom of my Father!
"And now, if your joy will be great with one soul that you have brought unto me into the kingdom of my Father, how great will be your joy if you should bring many souls unto me!" (D&C 18:15–16).
After His Resurrection, the Lord commanded His disciples to "go . . . and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost" (Matthew 28:19). In fulfillment of this command, able young men in the Church have a duty to prepare spiritually, physically, and emotionally to serve as full-time missionaries. Single women and mature couples also have the opportunity to serve full-time missions.
Missionary work also includes helping and supporting those who join the Church. As instructed by President Gordon B. Hinckley, each new member of the Church needs three things: a friend, a responsibility, and nurturing with "the good word of God" (Moroni 6:4; see also "Converts and Young Men," Ensign, May 1997, 47–50).

in two weeks from wednesday, i will be with my family dropping off my baby brother at the MTC to serve our heavenly father for 2 years of his life. i will miss him. even though he can drive me crazy. i know that he will do great things for the people of Manila, Philippines

he's leaving me in four months..

Wednesday, September 28, 2011

hes leaving on a jet plane.

will be back in two years.
yep my little brother got his mission call today.
we all were thinking he was going to go stateside
though for the last year up until his best friend got his mission call to Germany
i thought he would be going there
but nope
Elder Wilson Robert Meek is heading to
The Philippines Manila Mission

it really hasnt set in yet
it still weird to think i wont be seeing him for 2 years
it feels like yesterday when i was jealous that i got a little brother
when i would ground him when he was little so i wouldnt have to deal with him
(im such a nice older sister)
or when people thought we were twins because he looked older than what he was and we were the same height.
or when he could be me up. oh wait. that still happens. haha
but i wouldnt trade any of that in.
because i think it has made us closer today.
i have told him more things about me than i have told my mom.
he told me about his first kiss.
he always keeps me up to date with my music.
i guess i will be the one that catches him up when he returns.
i will miss this dude.
heres to making the next 5 months, the best 5 months.
because i will miss him.
