top of utah marathon

went up to logan friday night. hung out with my friend caitlin fran. went to eat dinner at firehouse pizzeria. so good. went back to caitlin's to sleep while she went to work. woke up at 4:30 to head to the park to hop on the bus. took a long drive somewhere and up a canyon. freezing. had to be 40*. found a tent where it was warm and pack with people. stretched. went outside to wait to start. down pour. ran back inside the tent. rain stopped. heard the count down to start the marathon. BANG. everyone starts running. after mile 6 down pour again. rained, rained and rained. my clothes, hair, shoes were soaked. mile 14. started to hail. stopped raining after mile 16. had stop because my iphone decided to turn off and on. fixed it. continued running. mile 18. the mind games had to start. every inch of my legs, lower back, hips and butt was sore. the 3 hour 40 mins. pacers passed me :(. no qualifying for boston marathon. new goal. get under 4 hours. mile 20. had to walk. took a gu shot, gatorade and a little banana from the aid station. started to cry. cute boy in a blue shirts passes me saying "dont stop, you can finish." bottles up my tears and started running again. mile 22. had to walk again. pacer runners 3:50 passed. realized i need to run. another man in an orange shirt yelled "come on your almost done" started running again. mile 23 1/2 had to walk again. cried. had to walk a down hill, i was in too much pain to run down it. saw bystanders and aid station for mile 24. bottled up my tears. went over to the aid station. sprayed some stuff on my calves, i should have done that a long time ago. calves felt a little better. grabbed some gatorade and a banana. 4:00 pacer runners passed me. at that point i didnt care. i just had to finish strong by running the last 2 miles. i ran, ran and ran slowly. i never been so happy to see the sign "mile 26" though i wasnt finished since its 26 point TWO miles. turned the corner. saw the finish line. everyone cheering for everyone. saw caitlin fran! crossed the finish line with my hands in the air. finished at 4:02!! walked over to get some goodies. sat down to stretch. couldnt move. and i am still sore this morning.  i just hope im better in a few days. St George marathon is a week from saturday. that one i will be taking it easy.
